What is a Gospel Mission?
All throughout the Bible Jesus tells us there are two main things He wants us to do. First, Jesus tells us to love Him with everything we are and to love each other in the same way. This fulfills ALL the laws and prophecies. The is the Great Commandment of Jesus Christ!"Master what is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said to him, you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it, you shall love your neighbor as you love yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and prophets." Matthew 22:36-40
Second, Jesus is telling us what we are to do with the Great Commandment. When we love the way He wants us to love, our one overriding mission is to share that love with others who don't know Jesus. This is the Great Commission of Jesus Christ!
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria and even to the remotest part of the earth." Acts 1:8
So, a Gospel Mission is all about loving people the way Jesus does and sharing the good news of The Gospel with them. This presents them with an opportunity to receive the free gift of salvation that comes only through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
This is Missions. Love Jesus with all your heart, soul & mind! Share that love through the Gospel with others who don't know Him!
