Periodically, FBCIT publishes brochures that detail the mission trips planned for the year. If you would like to be involved in missions, contact Krystal Tucker at (704) 882-1005.

Greeter Ministries

First Touch Greeters - The purpose of each of our greeter teams is to provide a “First Touch” to our welcomed guests by extending a friendly hand, a warm welcome, and providing information about the ministry of First Baptist Church Indian Trail. Greeter team members need to have good “people skills”, and an outgoing personality. Each of our specific greeter teams is explained below.

Preschool Greeters - Preschool greeters are stationed in our preschool welcome center. These greeters will meet our preschoolers and parents to assist them in getting signed in to class and introduced to teachers if visiting.

Visitation Ministry

F.A.I.T.H. Evangelism - Members are trained in the FAITH Evangelism plan. The purpose: sharing Christ with the lost. Team members are assigned visits with prospects for the express purpose of sharing the Gospel. FAITH team members function out of their Sunday School Life Groups and are part of weekly visitation.

Evangelistic Outreach - For those who may not desire to go through the FAITH training but, have the ability to share the Gospel through another means (EE, CWT, Romans Road, etc.) evangelistic outreach is encouraged. After consultation with the pastor, you can be assigned a visitation team to take out on weekly visitation.

Prospect Outreach - Each person that visits our church, in worship or Sunday School Life Groups, needs to be visited. Prospect visitation teams simply visit prospective members and let them know we enjoyed having them at the church, invite them to Sunday School Life Groups, and answer any questions they may have.

Christian Education Ministries

Life Group Leaders (Adult, Youth, Children)
Life Group leaders are responsible for the overall administration of their Life Groups. In short, they must lead their classes to be involved in the 5-fold function of the church. While they are directly responsible for the teaching aspect of the class, they must also enlist others to insure that fellowship, ministry, outreach, and worship are taking place. Teachers are asked to be involved in weekly outreach. Specific requirements vary from age group to age group. Ministry descriptions are available for preschool, children, youth, and adult teachers.

Life Group Apprentice - The Life Group apprentice works with the teacher and ministry coordinator to develop personal leadership and teaching skills for the purpose of preparing to become the teacher of a Life Group class. Teaches a minimum of once every six weeks.

Life Group Ministry Coordinator - Ministry coordinators register guests, keep attendance records, and develop and implement plans leading the class in evangelism including training and follow-up of guests and prospects, and enlist leaders for ministry.

Visitation/Evangelism Coordinator - Class outreach leaders lead the class in outreach and evangelism. They coordinate all evangelism and outreach efforts, maintain class prospect records, and assist in the development of a class evangelism strategy.

Ministry List Leaders (Care Group Leaders) - Ministry list leaders are responsible for the well- being of 4 - 6 people in their class. By making weekly contacts through the L.I.S.T. format, they ensure that all members are cared for and no ministry opportunities are missed.

Fellowship Coordinator - Fellowship leaders create an atmosphere conducive to members building relationships with each other as together they build upon their relationship with God. They help new members be assimilated into the fellowship of the class. Fellowship leaders also plan and coordinate monthly activities for their class.

Prayer Coordinator - Guides the group towards spiritual transformation through encouraging personal daily devotional and Bible study. Leads class to become involved in the prayer ministry of the church and coordinates prayer ministry of the Life Group.

Missions Coordinator - Leads the group to support missions giving and participate in mission education and ministry projects.

Life Track Teachers - Life Track is designed for discipleship. This is an excellent ministry position for the teacher who may not want to have the administrative responsibilities of a Sunday school teacher. Classes are taught on Wednesday nights (Sept. to Dec. and Jan. to May).

Preschool Life Group Teachers - Preschool teachers help lay the spiritual foundation for children, birth through pre-K by preparing and supervising age-appropriate Bible learning activities.

Youth Monday Night Outreach - Monday nights at 6:00 p.m. in the Cafeteria Modular. Students and adults go out in teams to share about Christ and the church with visitors.

Vacation Bible School - Each year we have VBS at FBCIT. This ministry involves many leaders on a short term basis. Positions are available for teachers, assistants, craft workers, refreshment workers, etc.

Specialized Ministries

Preschool Choir - Preschool Choir is a fun filled, active ministry for children ages 4 through kindergarten. Preschoolers are able to learn biblical truth and hands on music in a fun and age- appropriate program. The children sing every 6 to 8 weeks in worship, as well as participate in other creative Bible-based programs. The Choir meets on Sundays from 6:00 p.m. until the end of evening services. For more information, contact Rev. Wayne Burton, Associate Minister of Music.

Children’s Choir - FBCIT Children’s Choir is an exciting and creative ministry for children in 1st through 5th grade. Children in choir enjoy fast paced rehearsals and age specific music as well as biblical truth. The choir participates often in evening worship and also put together musicals and other creative events that teach them about the love of Christ and also about music. Children’s Choir meets on Sundays from 6:00 p.m. through the end of evening worship. Contact Rev. Wayne Burton, Associate Minister of Music, for more details.

8.32 Prayze (Youth Choir) - “8.32 Prayze” is the Student Choir Ministry of FBCIT. It features a strong emphasis on praise and worship, prayer, service, and missions. It is open to all students in grades 6 through 12, and meets each Sunday night at 6:30 p.m. in the Earl Sossamon Chapel. This group sings every four to six weeks in the worship services, as well as at local youth rallies, revivals, camps and other ministries. They also take a summer mission tour each June.

Celebration Choir - The ministry of the Celebration Choir is a vital and exciting ministry of worshippers in pursuit of God! It serves several purposes. First, as worship leaders in the church, the Choir seeks to lift up Jesus and draw people into His presence through powerful “heart” music. Second, the Choir prepares the hearts of the congregation to hear God’s message. Thirdly, this group is a tool used by God to prepare the heart of the Pastor to deliver God’s message in power and authority. Other benefits include great fellowship, spiritual growth, and better musicianship. The Celebration Choir has two rehearsal times to choose from – 1) Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary, and 2) Sundays at 4:30 p.m. in the Choir Room. This ministry also presents “An Indian Trail Christmas”, which has been seen by over 16,000 people in the last two years!

Celebration Orchestra - The ministry of the Celebration Orchestra works hand in hand with the choir, providing incredible power and color to Christ-honoring music, and adding so much to our worship services. Like the Celebration Choir, it also exists to exalt the Savior, evangelize the lost, and equip the saints. The orchestra rehearses each week at 3:45 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Through this ministry, you have the opportunity to use your ability to play an instrument for the glory of God. The orchestra is also a huge part of our Christmas musical. To join the orchestra or find out more information, contact Rev. Wayne Burton, our Associate Minister of Music, and find out how you can serve in this ministry.

Sports Evangelism - Our desire through sports evangelism is to use athletics to reach men, women, boys, and girls with the Gospel of Jesus Christ; and to provide a means of fellowship and spiritual growth! We are always in need of coaches and assistants.

Drama Team - Acting, costumes, props, makeup, and set design/construction are all needed in this ministry. The drama team is active during Christmas and other seasons.

Lay Counselor - Lay counselors assist members and others in working through the hard places in life. Under the direction of a trained Christian counselor, lay counselors receive training in basic counseling in order to help others.

Men’s Ministry - Men’s ministry is intended to support, encourage, and reach out to the men of our church and community. If you have a heart to see men become better husbands, fathers, and men of God, be sure to get involved in this ministry.

Ladies Ministry - Developed for and devoted to women. Reaching and teaching women is the goal. If you have a desire to help others become Godly women, consider being a part of the leadership team in this ministry.

AWANA Ministry - Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed - This children’s ministry is built around learning the Word of God, teaching, and fun games. Pointing children to the Savior is the goal.
